 History

The Band first received its commission on December 8, 1941 as the NEOSA Divisional Youth Band. After World War II, the band took various forms. It began as a mixed band of men and women. During the Baby Boom era, the band took the form of an all male band. Around 1965, the Band returned to its mixed form and became known once again as the NEOSA Youth Band.  In 2002, the band changed its name to NEOSA Brass.

The band has long been regarded as one of The Salvation Army's premier divisional bands. The band has played not only at various locations within the division, but as guests in Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Indiana, California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia.
