What do you guys think about the movie Brokeback Mountain? It is a love story about 2 cowboys, which means that its storyline is based around homosexuality. Now personally, I don't have a problem with it, and I really want to go see it because I absolutely love Jake Gyllenhaal as an actor. But, my mother is a little sketchy about me seeing it. However I think that if I am old enough to go see "Saw" or "Wolf Creek"  and see people cut their limbs off and be raped, then I should be allowed to see this......

Just wanted to know what you guys think

Personally I would never go to a movie about 2 gay guys. I would probably throw up in the theater as I almost did seeing Saw.

Sure you should be allowed to see it, but you shouldn't necessarily want to.

There are movies I have seen that I just know God wasn't pleased that I saw. What's the point in Brokeback Mountain?

I wondered if this movie would make the forums. It's probably going to sweep the oscars and therefore be really controversial - just like last year's winner.

Why do you think you are "old enough" to see Saw and Wolf Creek? (By the way, I have no idea what those two movies are) I think the whole pg-13 rating is strange. There really shouldn't be an age at which it's acceptable to see things God does not want us to fill our minds with. The world may say we're old enough, so we feel entitled to see them, but what it comes down to is God's desire for us to have a pure heart and mind. You should listen to your mom - moms are very smart!!

I'm reminded of what someone once told me...once you put something into your head (song lyrics, a scene from a  movie or book), it's there. You can't really get rid of it.

There is more truth to that than most probably would know Sunshine!

What I think about the movie is that it is just wrong. But in reality, I don't think it is any less glorifying to God than "Saw". Then again I don't know what these movies are all about and wouldn't quite know how to refer to them.

I've seen some movies I should not have watched. Some of them pretty violent, I thought so atleast, I've come to realize that I regret allowing my eyes to see such things because I believe God wants us to come to Him as a child, as Christ-like as we can be. And for my personal life I strive to fulfill His plan in me, to become holy. I've found that I have to decide wether to follow the ways of this earth or those of God. (Thats a given)

Therefore; my life should become sheltered, like never before. The Scriptures say to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. To do so we could not afford to fill our lives with such unholiness; movies, television..etc.

It seems really harsh though, I mean, no more violent movies? No more Monk or SCI? No more Nash or Smallville? No more I Robot or Waterboy? No Chris Farley or Adam Sandler? I would ask opinions on this, but I think my mind is well set on the thought that time gladly and sacrificially spent with God is far more deserved compared to time spent watching movies, conforming to the ways of this world, not to mention without comparison.

So are we  back to the old days where all movies and shows were for the devil?
